About Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park protects the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline of the United States, located primarily on Mount Desert Island off the coast of Maine. The park's 49,075 acres encompass granite peaks, ocean shoreline, woodlands, and lakes, offering one of the first places in the U.S. to see the sunrise each morning from the summit of Cadillac Mountain. Its historic carriage roads, built by John D. Rockefeller Jr., provide 45 miles of car-free paths through the landscape.
